Bill Gates is developing in cooperation with China, a new type of nuclear reactor
Microsoft founder Bill Gates visited China on Wednesday to discuss details of cooperation in developing a new type of nuclear reactor, which is to be "affordable, safe, and generate very little waste," - said the agency AP.
Gates, who supports Washington's research and development company TerraPower, is in talks with the China National Nukleraną Corporation (CNNC) since 2009 and assesses the current stage of negotiations as "very good".
He wants to create a wandering wave reactor (TWR - Traveling Wave Reactor), which would reduce demand for fuel - enriched uranium and processed. TWR also would be less than the reactors currently in use and more environmentally friendly.
"For Gates has no better partner to work than China, given the huge market of nuclear power in that country" - said Lin Boqiang, director of the Center for Research on Energy Economics and Xiamen University.
Ever since Gates retired from Microsoft's one of the priorities of its activities has become the promotion and development of clean energy technologies.
